The annual festivities of Carnival have already begun. Curacao’s Carnival is one of the longest-standing and largest Carnival spectacles in the Caribbean. Fuikdag: Caribbean's largest floating party.

What originally started in the 1960s as a New Year’s Day breakfast hosted by the Curacao Yacht Club, has erupted into not only Curaçao’s, but the Caribbean’s, largest floating party at Fuik Bay or simply Fuik, as it is locally known. Fuik Bay is a natural harbor surrounded by cliffs, making it an ideal setting for a day of debauchery.

The now substantial daytime party on the water evolved and enlarged naturally over the years. When the Yacht Club stopped hosting the elaborate 6am New Year breakfast, some of the friends decided to carry on the tradition, with a few changes. Now, taking place on the first Sunday of each year at Fuik Bay many people participate in the Fuikdag (Fuik Day) festivities. Spirited passengers gather on boats of all shapes and sizes decorated as colourfully as a box of crayons. Sun, fun, sea and tunes bring all walks of life together for a sun-soaked celebration where the bay resembles a kaleidoscope of colors, echoing the diversity and unity of the island’s people and culture.

When Fuikdag started, it was an intimate, three boat party amongst friends. Now, 150-200 boats create a vivid flotilla making it a rather large event, symbolic of Curaçao’s vibrancy. It is like a carnival parade on water. Besides the obvious sunshine, partying and dancing with your new friends, the point is to arrive on something that floats. A boat is the obvious choice, but many bring inflatables shaped like a flamingo or unicorn or even inflatable pools, as an example.

Fuikdag is such a well-known party that people travel to Curacao specifically to participate. Secluded and stunning Fuik Bay is only accessible by boat, so if you want to join in for next year’s Fuikdag 2025 festivities, plan and arrange a boat well in advance. They sell out months before the day of the party. The line up changes each year, and it’s a secret only revealed on the day, but there are plenty of famous artists joining in on the sunlit spectacle. In the past, there have been sets by renowned DJs such as: Hardwell, Martin Garrix, Partysquad, DJ Chuckie and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.

Fuikdag is a colorful celebration of life, where you are encouraged to celebrate being wild and free against the most stunning Caribbean backdrop to a pulsating, rhythmic beat. The day is full of revelry and camaraderie. It’s a day that makes a memorable mark on the souls of all who take part in the extravagant event.
